Karate comes from Japan and TaeKwonDo from Korea. Their philosophy is very similar but the techniques and applications are very different. In TaeKwonDo, we not only use our upper body, but our legs as well. Karate tends to use a bit more upper body. Both styles are good for you but make sure you choose the right school for you.
Kids can start Taekwondo at age 3.
Absolutely NOT! We have students ranging from the age of 3 up to 70 years old. Our programs are designed for anyone with the will and heart to learn and challenge themselves to an exciting and fun activity.
At the W.T.A. we use professional equipment and training tools to train our students. Contact is involved but is very safe when taught properly. Many schools don't use contact and use X-Ray paper for training. That's like swimming without water. We, at the W.T.A, will make sure that you learn how to defend yourself in any situation.
CrossFit in 100 words. Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow.Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports.

The B.B.C. is a program for students who's ultimate goal is to obtain a Black Belt. With consistant trainig, it could take you 3-4 years to recieve your Black Belt. If you or child is ready for this commitment, please speak to the head instructor at your dojang.
We highly recommend you go to a school and watch a class. It is very important to see what the school is teaching. Make sure that there is structure, discipline, and that they are teaching respect. Also look to see if the school is clean and providing a safe environment. We also recommend sitting down with an instructor to ask questions. Make sure the instructors are Kukkiwon certified. Do not choose a school simply because it's close by.
No. Here at the W.T.A. we have total confidence in our programs and staff that we don't have to use contracts. This is great for parents with young children. Be careful of schools that offer you a free introductory program and then pressure or trick you into a contract. Make sure to ask! If they don't answer that school is not in the best interest for you or your family.
The after school Taekwondo program is an alternative to after school daycare. We provide transportation from their elementary schools to the TaeKwonDo School. When kids arrive at the school they do their homework, play structured games and attend their TaeKwonDo lessons. We structure our program with the TaeKwonDo philosophy which is: respect, discipline, perseverance, and self control. Our program is like no other.
